More About Me

So I figured it was about time I wrote more about me....  (25th August, 2012)

I was born in Brisbane, lived in Sydney until we moved to Cairns in 1988.  The time that we moved to Cairns coincided with the Bicentennial.  So when every child in Australia received that gold coin or medal or whatever it was, my brother and I were in a car, somewhere between Sydney and Brisbane, making our way north, listening to Pink Floyd, The Doobie Brothers and various country artists whose names I can't remember.  Quit the mix!  I have never fully recovered from never receiving my coin or the country music onslaught.  I can only now truly appreciate the genius of Pink Floyd.

While we lived in Sydney, I danced for 10 years.  I did ballet, tap, jazz, modern, character.... all of it and loved it.

I was too shy to start another ballet school when we moved to Cairns.  This is my only regret in life.

  1. well, you wore that mask well jac, because in the inconsistent times that I have known you, I have always seen you as radiant, shining and positive. I appreciate you sharing your story, it intrigues me about the condition as I have a friend that went through PND. But 17 years???? holy are you freakin kidding me?! maybe the darker the places you go give you the vulnerablities to shine so much brighter, because that's what I always thought of you x

    1. Hi Jolene, I only just saw this comment sorry! Thanks for such a lovely description about me. My depression has been on and off for the last 17 years...it comes and goes. I guess when we worked together I was in a good place. I was saving to go overseas, I had plans, I had met Cameron and life was pretty good.

I love your description about my vulnerabilities... I might have to steal that one day!

      much love xoxoxoxo

  2. Hi Mummy in Disguise,
I just saw your post on Mamamia and have ended up on your blog! I am living a very similar life I think! (mother-of-two, clinical depression, very supportive husband).
I only just started blogging a month ago at www.insane-jane.com but already it has really helped me feel a lot better. Looking forward to reading more of your blog.

    Best wishes,
    Jane xx
